Fokkernews November 2025 (issue 95)
General news
After more than one year of inactivity Niger Airlines has resumed flights on 29 October 2025. As their single aircraft Fokker 50 5U-NAA (20313) is operating for Busy Bee Congo, the airline has leased a Beech 1900D for domestic operations. ATR aircraft are under consideration for the future.
Kenyan CAA has issued a directive prohibiting the import of Fokker F27 and F50 aircraft for safety reasons, related to their age and maintenance challenges. Existing Kenyan-registered aircraft of these types are allowed to continue operating until they are deregistered or permanently withdrawn from service. Also foreign-registered F27 and F50 can operate in Kenya.
The government of Somalia has announced the resurrection of Somali Airlines as the national carrier, after it ceased operations in 1991. The airline is planned to start before year end 2025. The fleet will initially comprise two Airbus A320 and presumably also two Fokker 50 aircraft.

| 10378 | 500 | 7Q-KEV | 5Y-GMD | Aerospace Consortium. Re-registered in Malawi November 2025 for operations in South Sudan. |
| 10448 | 500 | 7Q-LEX | 5Y-JUU | Instead of being parted out for spares, this F27 is currently undergoing major maintenance at Nairobi-Jomo Kenyatta airport. Once completed by mid-December 2025, the freighter will be registered in Malawi and based at Mogadishu for an as yet unknown operator. |
| 10541 | 400M | A-2705 | Indonesian Air Force. Freshly painted this Troopship was inaugurated on 29 September 2025 as a monument in the courtyard of the air force headquarters at Halim-Perdanakusuma air base. It commemorates that eight Troopships have served during 37 years in the TNI-AU in multiple transport operations. | |
| 20110 | 50 | (5Y-SKN) | Mango Airlines. Seen parked at Kinshasa-N’Djili on 19 November 2025 without registration and without engines, but with titles and tail logo. This suggests that Mango Airlines will see a new start after it went out of business back in 2012. | |
| 20159 | 50 | SE-MFZ | PopulAir. When luggage was loaded into the F50 prior to its flight from Gällivare Lapland airport to Stockholm-Arlanda via Kramfors, a suitcase started to smoke. Ground crew threw it on the platform where it continued smoking and some small explosions were noted. The plane was evacuated and all luggage rescanned. The culprit object was thought to be a headlamp; the scene looked similar to a lithium battery ignition, but this was not confirmed. There were no injuries and the F50 departed one hour after the event. | |
| 20181 | 50 | 9S-ABG | Gomair. Seen at Kinshasa-N'Djili airport 19 November 2025, still missing the left-hand engine. | |
| 20184 | 50 | 9S-ABK | Gomair. Seen in service 19 November 2025 at Kinshasa-N'Djili airport. | |
| 20187 | 50 | 6O-BES | YV2977 | Reportedly destined for the revival of Somali Airlines. The former Avior F50 was reregistered in late October and ferried all white from Paramaribo via Fortaleza, Praia, Accra, Yaounde, Entebbe. It arrived at Mogadishu on 11 November 2025. |
| 20188 | 50 | 6O-SAS | YV2976 | Reportedly should become the second F50 for Somali Airlines. As far as we know the aircraft is still in Venezuela. Tie-up needs confirmation. |
| 20258 | 50 | 5Y-GMI | Fajr Airlines. Seen in service at Mogadishu on 8 November 2025, in the livery shown in Fokkernews 92. | |
| unknown | 50 | none | An unidentified F50 wreck was seen at Kinshasa-N'Djili on 19 November 2025. We believe that it is either 9S-ABL (20206) or 9Q-CAB (20276), both former CAA machines. |
