In early 1990 Fokker intended to sell two F100s to Taiwan Airlines, the first of which was c/n 11290. As required Fokker applied for an export permit (PH-EXP intended), but this was rejected for unknown reasons. Then Fokker requested registration PH-TAB on their own account, which was allowed on 21 August 1990 and three days later the F100 made its first flight, in the full livery of Taiwan Airways. The negotiations with the Taiwanese airline did not proceed very well and on 12 September Fokker flew the F100 to Woensdrecht for storage. A second request for export permit few days later was again rejected. Despite the Taiwanese registration was never official, it was actually applied to the aircraft. At about the same time Taiwan Airlines ended up in financial problems and the transaction was finally cancelled. The photo shows this F100 during a test flight over the Netherlands, wearing B-11150 in the tail. After the failed sale Fokker used it as PH-TAB for several demonstrations and put in cocoon in storage at Woensdrecht mid-1991.
