Fokkernews June 2026 (issue 102)

General news

The Royal Thai Navy has ordered two Airbus (CASA) C295 transport/patrol aircraft for delivery in 2028. This will certainly mark the end of the service life of the one or two Friendships that are believed to be still active. The Thai Navy once operated six F27s.
Jubba Airways of South Sudan is aiming to add two F100s to the fleet for growth; one of these is supposed to be 5Y-MMX (11373) that recently arrived in Nairobi. The F50 currently in use will be phased out, according to the airline's CEO.

10245 100 SE-KZD This former Air Nordic Swe Aviation F27 has been a fire training object at Groningen-Eelde airport since 2010. On 17 June 2026 the wings and fuselage were detached in preparation for transportation the next day. The destination is reportedly the scrapman.
20114 50 7Q-CHK 5Y-CHK In a web report by the Malawi Platform on Investigative Journalism this F50 is mentioned as being owned by Malawian company Flytech Aviation and operated by Dragonfly in Kenya. The tie-up is the hypothesis by Fokkernews and needs to be confirmed.
20129 50 7Q-CGX Further to the Fokkernews of last month, Kush Air is now confirmed as the operator.
20313 50 5U-NAA Busy Bee Congo. The F50 experienced an engine failure while landing at an unspecified airport in DR Congo on 17 June 2026. The competent safety authorities classified it as a minor incident, not necessitating further investigation.
unknown 50 7Q-ICN Another 'new' F50 was revealed in the Investigative Journalism article on the Malawian register, believed to be owned by Flytech Aviation. The photo below shows that it is operated by Icon Aviation in South Sudan. Identity is still unknown.
unknown 50 7Q-SKS The Malawi Platform on Investigative Journalism lists this F50 as owned by Flytech Aviation and operating with Dragonfly in Kenya. We wonder whether this could be a typo and 7Q-SSK is actually meant. The latter is known, with photographic proof and construction number 20232 (see Fokkernews 83).

11281 100 VH-XWP Alliance Airlines. Seen at Perth 17 June 2026, missing more parts but still largely intact.
11329 100 EP-ATG Iran Aseman Airlines. Put into storage by the end of February, likely due to the war between Iran and USA/Israel.
11373 100 5Y-MMX 2-HFNU The Guernsey registration was cancelled on 4 May 2026, so this might also be the date of registration in Kenya. It now appears that the F100 is operated by Alta Wings and subleased to Jubba Airways.
11383 100 EP-CFR Iran Air. Put into storage by 21 January 2026.
11444 100 EP-FQF Qeshm Airlines. Stored at Tehran since 16-11-2025.
11450 100 2-HFSQ VH-FSQ Airline Technical Support Caribe BV. The aircraft moved from the Australian to the Guernsey register on 27 May 2026; it is currently stored at Woensdrecht and reportedly intended for Skyward Airlines in Kenya.
11476 100 EP-ATF Iran Aseman Airlines. Stored at Ahwaz since 4 April 2025.
11477 100 EP-FQJ Qeshm Airlines. Stored at Tehran 27 February 2026, likely due to the war between Iran and USA/Israel.
11499 100 VH-UQA Alliance Airlines. Recently seen at Brisbane airport with titles removed. This may mean that the aircraft is prepared for sale, now Alliance has lost a contract with Virgin Australia for services in Queensland?
11565 70 VH-QQV Alliance Airlines. After removal of useable parts this F70 was eventually scrapped on 17 June 2026.

Fokker pictures

This picture illustrates the condition of former Air Nordic SE-KZD (10245) in its fire training role before the F27 was taken apart and moved to the scrapman; see also news item above. (Peter Bakema; Groningen, 3 March 2025)

Resident of Rand airport since 2019 is SJL Cargo Friendship 500 D2-ESN (10610) and as far as we know it has not flown since its arrival. (Jan Sega; Johannesburg-Rand, 29 May 2026)

Definitely not the best picture, but it shows that F50 7Q-ICN does exist and is operated by Icon Aviation, a South Sudanese airline. (Airhitcher; Juba, 2026)

Former Virgin Australia F100 VH-FSQ (11450) became 2-HSFQ now it is owned by Airline Technical Support Caribe BV. Not much color, but perfect for documentation. (Jensvr; Woensdrecht, 22 June 2026)
