2012 - 2013

Mais Linhas Aéreas S.A. was founded in 2010 and had its corporate seat in Salvador, the capital of Bahia province in the northeast of Brazil. On 14 August 2012 ANAC, the Brazilian civil aviation authority, granted a concession for the operation of scheduled public air transportation for passengers, cargo, and mail, valid for 10 years. In accordance with Brazilian legislation, the new airline was restricted to fly domestically in the first three months.
The airline’s operating base was Galeão International airport in Rio de Janeiro and the first flight took place from there to Caldas Novas in September 2012 on behalf of a tour operator. Some other destinations served by Mais were Recife, Macapa, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Brasilia, Fortaleza, and São José dos Campos. In 2012 a load factor of 76% was achieved, but the financial results were disappointing and in late 2013 Mais ceased operations.
Fokkers with Mais
The only aircraft type operated by Mais was Fokker 100. Mais acquired two units that were previously in use with Mexicana and had them flown from Mexico City to Rio de Janeiro where they arrived in March 2011, painted all white. Subsequently Mais contracted the TAM technical department in São Carlos for maintenance, some modifications and painting. PR-JFO was first noted in the new color scheme in October 2011, followed five months later by PR-RMJ. The aircraft had a white fuselage with the airline titles in purple. Starting at the engines an orange and a red band preceded the purple tail with the company logo in white. An unusual yet very characteristic color combination.
After Mais had become defunct the two Fokkers returned to the lessor. Initially they were stored at San Carlos and in 2013 they were ferried via Maastricht to Saarbrücken for continued storage. During the storage the lessor had the two Fokkers re-registered to PH-JXW (11390) and PH-KXJ (11400) respectively, while they still carried the full Mais livery. In late 2014 both were prepared for and delivered to Air Panama.
